JCOP Framework Central Logviewer tool

Introduction

Central Log Viewer allows to display the PVSS log messages published using ATLAS's  fwLogErrHandler. It also allows to query the error messages stored in the Oracle database using ATLAS's  fwCentralLogging Client.

Installation

To install and start the Central Log Viewer:

1. download the ZIP file with the installation, that is appropriate for your platform (Linux or Windows), using the links below.
2. extract the ZIP file in a directory of your choice, preferably a new, empty one.
   Note To avoid possible clashes between your PVSS installation/project and this software, it is NOT recommended to extract the current prototype in the PVSS installation, or in the Framework components, or in the project directory
3. To be able to display the messages published via DIM, make sure that the DIM publishers are working correctly
4. Make sure that the DIM_DNS_NODE environment variable is set correctly, and points to your DIM DNS.
5. To be able to get the error messages from the Oracle database, make sure that you have the Oracle client software installed, and configured properly
6. To start the log viewer on Windows, use the logviewer.exe file.
7. To start the log viewer on Linux, use the logviewer.sh file.
   (This shell script will take care of setting the approrpiate library search path for you, then starts the Log Viewer)
8. Configure the Log Viewer using the File->Config menu. For details, please refer to the Readme file.
   Note: to be able to read the messages from the database, you absolutely need to adjust the table name in the Query textfield, as indicated in the Readme file. The default table name PVSS_LOGS will NOT work for you. Contact your DCS expert to see what is the table name to use.
